Great Post! Watching the “I Will” ad made me want to run a marathon! (or at least watch the movie Chariots of Fire on my ass.)

But I was not left with the same determination after watching “I Can.” Yeah sure I can give Weight Watchers my money. But will I? Answer: No.

These two also bring up my anxious OCD tendency to always need to be DOING SOMETHING at all times…

I would like to add here that in the Christian world, something else can occur: men can become totally asexual. This creates a fertile ground (no pun intended) for addiction, sexual or otherwise, domestic abuse, rape, other forms of violence and self-violence.

I’m not sure what we do as Christians with sexuality, but the word integration and wholeness comes to mind. As soon as we start talking about sexuality, the conversation is simultaneously and immediately about body. Discussions about body in a Christian context stirs up that age old (Platonic and Augustinian) split of mind and body. We must get over this, get beyond this. It is so detrimental to relationship (with God or other), to self, to our children, to our psyche, and, I truly believe, to God, Godself.

Loved your breakdown of the themes Eden. I saw this movie opening night and was just floored. Ah! I cried too and loved it and was so glad that she found her MUCH-NESS. (love that word and theme)
